The motivations behind the WSC, its evolution, and expectations for 2026

Private security has long stood out as one of the most relevant issues in Brazil, reflecting both the growing demand for specialized services and the sector´s increasing professionalization and strategic relevance. One of the greatest proofs of this evolution is the existence of Fenavist — one of the few organizations of its kind in the world — which plays a fundamental role in strengthening the sector.

From this perspective, in the early 2000s, the idea of the World Security Congress (WSC) was born. Its first edition took place that same year in Bangkok, Thailand. When the congress was conceived, one of its main objectives was to promote information exchange and collective growth through knowledge sharing among private security professionals from different parts of the world. The theme of its inaugural edition was “The Role of Private Security in Prison Administration.” The event not only met but exceeded expectations, generating a strong impact in the sector that further encouraged the development and innovation of the congress itself.

Following the success of its first edition, the WSC returned in 2002 with an expanded scope, enhancing its program to include an exhibition of security companies, reflecting the growing diversity of private security demands and solutions. The event’s focus, which until then had centered on prison security, expanded to other areas, including asset protection, corporate security, perimeter defense, anti-kidnapping strategies, fire safety, and more. This expanded scope allowed the WSC to establish itself as an event of great importance — not only in Brazil but globally.

With each edition, the congress has been held in different locations around the world, fostering an environment of diversity and international collaboration while remaining true to its principle of information exchange.
